Founded in 1929, The goal of MoMA was to be the foremost modern art museum in the world. They have met their goal. Worth an extended visit, either in cyberspace or in person
Located on Fifth Avenue at 89th street in New York, you can't miss the place. Wright's "upside-down" wedding cake architecture still delights after all these years. And then you enter the building...
The Whitney Museum in New York is precisely the right scale for a human-sized person to wander through. But if you can't make it in person, please take a virtual trip through their beautiful website.
The Calder Foundation: Creator of the mobile, Alexander Calder was a delightful addition to our planet and his legacy of huge...and tiny sculptures will continue to delight for the millenia to come.
A WONDERFUL site if you're looking for books on art or antiques or just beautful books! Well worth a click of the button!
Storm King Art Center, a 500 acre art and nature center in Mountainville, NY displays sculpture on a grand scale. Well worth a drive up the Hudson River Valley.
The Cooper Hewitt Museum is part of the Smithsonian Institute and as such you are guaranteed to be delighted. It's an intimate museum, compared to the MoMA, but much cozier. We saw Calder's Circus there one time and were utterly blown-away!
The American Craft Museum is directly across the street from the MoMA and has some of the most cutting-edge crafts in the world. Between the two galleries, you could spend a week!
